Within just 72 hours of 43-year-old Sanjay’s suicide by hanging himself in Rupdhanu village of Barhan police station area of Agra, his brother Pramod also committed suicide by hanging himself from the same tree. Sanjay’s family had accused the police of harassing him. The Superintendent of Police has suspended Sub-Inspector Hariom Agnihotri, who was the investigating officer in this case, while Saadabad police station in-charge Mukesh Kumar has been suspended.
SP Nipun Agarwal said that Pramod was called to record his statement in the case. He had said that he was not feeling well. After some time, it was learnt that he too had committed suicide by hanging himself. Additional Superintendent of Police is investigating the case. It is worth noting that after the death of Pramod’s brother Sanjay, the family had accused the Kotwali Saadabad police of harassment.
The family members said that Saadabad police had picked up Sanjay in the case of luring a teenager. The family members said that the police had also picked up Pramod and Sanjay’s son for questioning. The investigation of the case could not even start properly and Pramod’s death has increased the problems of the police.
